Ryan J. Shumacher, Esq., CLPF
Ryan is an attorney and private trustee in California with extensive trusts & estates, charitable gift planning, and corporate trustee experience. A Southern California native, Ryan earned his B.A. in Anthropology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor (Go Blue!) before returning to his home state and going on to earn his J.D. at the UCLA School of Law, where he was the founder of the Tax and Estate Planning Law Association and an inaugural Thomas A. Kirschbaum Tax Scholar.
Prior to joining Lorenz Private Trustees as a Partner in 2019, Ryan worked as an attorney at two high-end boutique law firms in Beverly Hills and Downtown Los Angeles, respectively, before serving as a fiduciary specialist and subject-matter expert in a private bank, where he specialized in representing large estates in all aspects of planning and administration. As an attorney, he has drafted, reviewed, and administered hundreds of estate plans, all of which have led him to the meaningful role of private professional trustee. Ryan focuses his practice on trusts and estates with large and complex family-owned business and real estate assets, as well as those with significant philanthropic intent.
Ryan and his wife Katie live on their equestrian property with their dogs and horses. He is currently the Treasurer of the Board of Directors of The Dressage Foundation and has obtained his Sommelier Level 1 certification from the Court of Master Sommeliers.
