How does Lorenz Private Trustees work with Estate Planning Professionals?
Here at Lorenz Fiduciary Services, we honor the time, energy and compassion you have invested in your client relationships. It is our desire to maintain the relationships which best support our clients through the end of their lives, and may benefit the next generations.
What are some of the types of professionals we work with?
Every professional who serves elders and the disabled, in the tax, legal, financial and medical fields are our colleagues. We strive to connect with professionals of quality, who strive to put the client’s interest before their own.
How can Lorenz Private Trustees support other Estate Planning Professionals?
When issues arise for our current or prospective clients, we feel that the best service we can provide is to help the client clarify the issue or question, and then to refer that client back to their original professionals. When the client has no professional relationship to cover the issue, we look to our list of trusted colleagues to provide three or more names, so the client can choose the best solution for herself.
Why Professionals should suggest or hire Lorenz Private Trustees?

How does Lorenz Private Trustees compare with other fiduciary service firms?
We are a corporation with experience in fiduciary work since 1990.
We have five regional offices for the convenience of our clients; Los Angeles, Temecula (Administrative office), San Diego, Newport Beach, and Portsmouth, NH.
None of our trustees work alone. We have learned that over 60% of California licensees work alone, which no financial safeguards or internal controls. We have several experienced fiduciaries and support staff, and we meet regularly to discuss our cases as a team.
We have experience with having served on more than 200 trusts and estates which have included:
We feel is it important for a fiduciary to know and use outside industry professionals in our line of work to get the best results for our clients, and to reduce conflicts of interest. Communication can be challenging for all professionals and clients, so we enjoy sharing aspects of our process with the professionals who support our clients, and help them understand their personal situation in context of what is possible. We know that there is no one professional who could possibly provide all the services a client needs as they age, and so we continue to network and develop good relationships. Building a network of trusted referral sources is part of the joy in our work!

What happens when you refer a client to us?
- When faced with a client who is in the estate planning process, but doesn’t have the kind of person you would recommend to serve in such important roles as trustee, executor, or agent, please consider asking the client to look at our website, and schedule a (free) 15 minute phone appointment. This allows the client to speak with a professional fiduciary who has experience, compassion, and who honors your relationship with your client. The client will be able to ask his/her questions, and learn some new questions to ask other fiduciaries they should interview before making this critical decision.
- Once the client selects us to serve, and we receive a complete set of estate planning documents, we follow up with detailed instructions to help build our file. We provide an emergency notification packet (at no charge) which includes wallet cards and magnet so emergency personnel know how to reach the agent for healthcare, and the fiduciary (who might be the same person!).
- It could be years from the date the documents were completed (and hopefully updated from time to time) before one of our team goes into service for your client (as a result of incapacity, resignation, or death). We strive to stay in touch with your client, always referring him/her back to you for specifics, so we stay in readiness. Some clients ask us to review their documents and talk about end of life choices. When a client is interested in us getting to know the details this way, we provide a separate letter of engagement, and charge hourly for information gathering and meeting with the client.
- Some clients prefer to know that we are in the background, ready to serve any time without any further meetings.
